It's easier to write a file reference to a column, than to insert the "contents" of a file into a column. It's easier to write a URL to a browser, than to extract a file from a column, store it temporarily on the IFS, and delete it later. It's easier to restore a stream file from a backup than to restore a database table full of Blobs. It's easier to FTP a stream file than to extract the contents of a Blob, then FTP, then cleanup. I've read that JDBC drivers handle blobs differently, leading to cross-platform compatibility issues. Stream files don't have that concern. Consider overall ease, not just how easy it is to import and export from MS Access, using ODBC. HTH, Nathan.
