I think the OpsNav route is the difference in our setup - I've used the
STRJRN command - none of the options you mention are available there. I have
no idea why IBM is making new journal attributes available to OpsNav only.
As you mention it has the implication that configuration can only be done by
hand.

In my opinion, at least the API interface (QjoStartJournal) to this
important security, application and recovery related function should have
been enhanced accordingly. - Leaving both a choice of interface as well as a
programmatical way to accomplish both configuration, documentation and
potential recovery.

I just checked the V5R3 documentation - nothing changed. Hopefully IBM will
address this issue in a future release.
