RE: How to install an optical drive in a 810?

The DVD and the tape cartridge (in that same vicinity) do not allow 
concurrent maintenance.  I found it funny that I could do concurrent 
maintenance on raid protected disks and all sorts of critical stuff - but 
not those two items.  Some technical reason for it - but still silly in my 
opinion.  Don't know if this has been resolved on the i5.

You'd think you could use concurrent maintenance and do a remove/add. Then
just delete the hardware resource that will show up as the optical drive
with a ? In the "work w/ non-reporting" screen.

Not sure if it would work or not - worth a shot rather than IPLing.

Ok, well digging through the infocenter was easier than expected.

Looks like my answers are:

1) yes, box must be shutdown
2) yes, DVD-RAM must replace DVD-ROM


Anybody have anything to add?
