I don't think there is any downside to the WRKRDBDIRE and deleting *LOCAL
entry and recreating a new one. I recall doing this even on a production
machine. Might be some SQL package objects from ODBC/JDBC that might use it
but those can be deleted and will re-create automatically.

I will plead some ignorance here but I'm assuming that is coming from the
RDBE. If you do a WRKRDBDIRE you will most likely see the name you are
referencing with a remote location of *LOCAL. You will have to delete and
then add it back. I've not done this so I'm not sure if there is anything
else you should look out for. But if you aren't running production it
shouldn't be an issue.

All:

I am using a previously owned AS400. I was able to change the system name by
using the CHGNETA command.
Question: How do I change the database name of the system? When I use SQL it
says that the connection is to database [oldsysname]. I want this to have
the same name as [mysysname].
I can also see [oldsysname] value for the database name when I view the
AS400 through windows operations navigator?

TIA,
Ash.
