Well....one of the things I do with my stuff here in my not so little lab is to do a savlib to *savf, then do a binary ftp to my windows server where I have 250GIG mirror that cost me less than $400 - INSTALLED... then, I do a disk to disk backup from there, rotating removeable 250GIG removeable disk drives ($180 EACH) and all this is done over a gig ethernet... Now, that's not gonna work for many companies, but for alot, it will work just fine.....:) No, you still need a good backup savsys, etc, to boot from and restore from, etc., for dev, secdta, yoda yoda yoda...but for data and pgm libs, gee, it's nice....:) Don in DC ---------------------------------------------------------------- On Tue, 11 Jan 2005 pnelson@xxxxxxxxxx wrote: > Who's the vendor? > > > Paul Nelson > Arbor Solutions, Inc. > 708-670-6978 Cell > pnelson@xxxxxxxxxx > > > > > > "Wilt, Charles" <CWilt@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx > 01/11/2005 04:23 PM > Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion > > To: "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion" > <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > cc: > Subject: RE: Anybody ever had backup tapes converted to > CD/DVD? > > > Just a following up for the archives if nothing else. > > The vendor we're working with just demoed a CD created from an old reel > backup tape. > > DSPOPT DATA(*SAVRST) > > shows the objects saved to tape just fine.
