I don't know if snads is "going away" because of IBM disabling it or just
fallen out of favor. If it is the former, I haven't heard anything like
that. Granted you can't do SNADS over a 1gb ethernet line without using
ANYNET to package it up under tcp/ip. But most snads die hards don't find
ANYNET all that hard. If it's because it's fallen out of favor then that
hardly seems conducive to a demand for a product.
There were few advantages to snads. One would be the "fire and forget"
capability. Like do a SNDNETF and if the comm is done the sender is not
tied up. Instead it waits in a distribution queue until you get comm
and/or the remote system back working. Another advantage are the SAVRST*
genre of commands. This, there are already several freebies out there to
emulate this in tcp/ip.

SNADS

I am looking for some feedback on the use of SNADS.
My understanding is that SNA may be going away.
I am looking at a product that can do the functionality of SNADS using
TCP/IP.

My question is how much demand for a product like this exists in the
midrange market?

Thanks for your thoughts,
