Preposterous, IMHO.

yes - new machine arrived yesterday & all i did was unpack server and
put it & boxes in corner. Chirping started shortly after. Every 4-5 minutes
for about an hour, and sounds like a failing UPS or smoke alarm (or a
cricket..).
It stopped about hour or so later (..wish i had never posted the
question..)
I now think it was a real cricket, not uncommon in NC. This box sat in
freight forward warehouse for many days over holiday.
