OPNQRYF does not like %SST on numeric fields, just as you guessed.  SQL
doesn't like that either.  One must use DIGITS to convert the numeric field
to character.  If I recall correctly, that is done using the MAPFLD option.

the "X" fields get replaced by variables passed to the program.

ONPQRYF is whining about invalid operands.....

I don't remember having to MAP anything but is that my problem ????

I'm guessing it doesn't care for numeric fields being %SST, but I thought I
had done that in the past with no problems.
