I am sure I did somthing like this in the past but
I have hit a wall on getting it to work.

I have two fields BOAGEN and BOEFF which are both
zone decimal 5,0 & 6,0. I want all agents that equal
a variable name and with a effective year of 04.
The year is postions 5-6 of BOEFF.

Here is my string created early in the CLP....

('BOAGEN *eq XXXXX *and (%SST(BOEFF 5 2)) *eq XX')

the "X" fields get replaced by variables passed to the
program.

ONPQRYF is whining about invalid operands.....

I don't remember having to MAP anything but is that my
problem ????

I'm guessing it doesn't care for numeric fields being %SST,
but I thought I had done that in the past with no problems.
