So, your routing entries point to one and the same network but you have two different Gateways to get there. I would expect to handle to routers all the failover automatically, but there is a parameter in TCPIP configs about "Dead Gateway detection". CHGTCPA ipdeadgate (*yes 2), where the 2 means check every 2 seconds You should give it a try.
