Since you are using the same tape drive as before, it sounds like you filled
the tape, and it needs another tape. Has this job been using multiple tapes
in the past?

Are you using an IBM drive, or a third party drive emulating a 3570?

Did the old backup program do a MONMSG during the backup? Is there a CHGMSGQ
command in the old program or a CHGJOB INQMSGRPY(SYSRPYL) in the old
program? These could be other ways that the other program handled the
message about the end of tape.

We are using the same tape drive the 3570. Before we were saving complete
selected libs. Now I wrote a CL that changes saved objects on *ALLUSR. I am
not providing a list of volumes.

What changed to cause the rewrite of the backup program? New tape drive?

What type of tape drive is being used?

This message sounds as thought you provided a list of tape volumes to be
used. Is that the case? Is it possible that one of the volume names had a
space in it?
