Just a side note to this discussion. The vote counting computers in Wichita County, Texas (Wichita Falls), were checked and verified the week before the election. During the counting process one of the computers stopped working, so the second computer was used. However there were so many undercounts in the presidential election here that election officials rechecked one precinct, and found a large number of errors. The Secretary of State of Texas called the county judge after midnight, and because the count had so many errors, ordered that all counts be thrown out, and election officials are hand counting ballots beginning today. I don't want a balloting system without an audit trail, and I don't trust a strictly electronic audit trail. It should issue a verification ticket to the voter, giving the voter a permanent record of the ballot. -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
