Take a look at the CVTDAT command.

If you decide to use SQL, you'd want to write a CvtDateToNumeric User
Defined Function (UDF)

select * from VINLOG
where IJDATE <= CvtDateToNumeric(CURRENT_DATE - 6 MONTHS)
