Frank, The reason you were having a problem is that adopted authority does not travel to batch jobs. So when you did the SBMJOB, you lost the adopted authority of the interactive job. By adopting authority on the batch job you fixed this problem... for anything that resides in the QSYS.LIB library system Unfortunately adopted authority does not work in directory file systems other than QSYS.LIB. If you want to do something similar to adopted authority, you'll have to use the profile swapping or the SETUID API's to change the current user of your program.
