I am sure it can be done. Been YEARS since I played with this, but we did have programs that would read tape files directly from RPG on our iSeries. Back when disk was very limited on the old S/36 this capability was one of my arguments to management for getting an AS/400. I'm really curious as to whether a mainframe could read a tape produced by an ISeries.
