I have come to the conclusion that SNMP is a more robust protocol in terms
of networking. We used to have all sorts of timeout issues due to high
latency on certain network segments, and after switching to SNMP, we haven't
had a single problem with timeout. As far as I can tell, output is
identical in all respects.

Subject: Printing and SNMP

Can anyone explain to me the advantage of configuring a printer with the
SNMP driver CRTDEVPRT...SYSDRVPGM(*IBMSNMPDRV).

The reason I ask is a customer is looking into purchasing a Xerox
Docuprint 75. According to the IBM documentation
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.NSF/0/cc6ee2005999a36d862569c100796
da4?OpenDocument&ExpandSection=6#_Section6
this printer does not support SNMP when attached to the iSeries. What
capabilities are they losing not having a printer that can be configured
with SNMP from the iSeries side of things?
