According to Printing V Redbook, "This printer driver provides the function found in the PJL printer driver but does not require the printer to support PJL commands." Seems the printer DOES need to support somethign else, however. More info is in APAR II03291, at http://www-912.ibm.com/n_dir/nas4apar.NSF/1be1a5b61b213a6c86256c23007048f4/0a4880d100c2552e862568ab006dce41

Also, just get Printing V and see what it says. COMMON in Toronto seems will have a session on this and other printing stuff.

Probably losing nothing or not much, as this driver provides PCL functionality, which the PJL driver also does.

Can anyone explain to me the advantage of configuring a printer with the
SNMP driver CRTDEVPRT...SYSDRVPGM(*IBMSNMPDRV).

The reason I ask is a customer is looking into purchasing a Xerox
Docuprint 75. According to the IBM documentation
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.NSF/0/cc6ee2005999a36d862569c100796

this printer does not support SNMP when attached to the iSeries. What
capabilities are they losing not having a printer that can be configured
with SNMP from the iSeries side of things?
