Changing the printer file from *IPDS to *AFPDS works. However, there must
have been some catch between IPDS and AFPDS, because the barcodes print
"fatter" through AFPDS than IPDS does.

We also noticed this when we tried to print the spooled file as IPDS on
another IBM printer with IBM IPDS installed. The barcodes are thinner on the
4312/17/24 model printers than on the two 1140 printers we have, or any
other printer (HP) with IPDS capability.

The short story is, yes it works, but I need to rearrange everything
horizontally in the printer file to accommodate for the fatter barcodes, as
well as reduce the barcode ratio from 3 to 2. Somewhere I remember that 3 is
the correct ratio, but the barcodes are too wide!

Thanks,
Loyd

OK, thanks! I will try this in test tomorrow. (Too many fires right now!)

Loyd,

Host Print Transform (HPT) can't handle *IPDS spool files. You need to
change the spool file to *AFPDS.

Leave the printer *DEVD alone. You don't need AFP(*YES) when the printer is
using HPT.

In other words, HPT can't do *IPDS to ASCII. But it can do *AFPDS to ASCII.

HTH,
Charles
