Booth: "Interactive data vs. archival data?" Mark: "Operational data vs. historical data?" I think Terry nailed it best as he described online vs. nearline vs. archive. By those definitions, everything I am working with would be either online or nearline. Data that would be analyzed must be online, whereas non-analytical data such as comments or graphics (photos, signatures, drawings) would be nearline and available for (nearly) immediate retrieval. Since our warranties are 15 years (and longer) in length, all of that "history" would be "operational" in nature. What happens after a warranty expires has not yet been discussed for the purpose of this project. Thanks all! db
