just leaving that vendors application, Booth. UPS has a proprietary package that runs well enough but is, of course, outside the boundaries of our daily software and shipment information needs. We will feed (interface) their system with what they require...and weight is one of those pieces they require. -----midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: ----- To: "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> From: "Booth Martin" <booth@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx Date: 09/05/2004 01:33AM Subject: Re: screen scraping from scales When you say "leaving the windows platform" do you mean you are going to Linux or Mac? Or are you just leaving that vendor's application? I keep saying "Look at Visual Age RPG" for these kinds of problems. Its the RPG you know, its Windows based, and its free for you. --------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.martinvt.com --------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Date: 09/03/04 21:02:04 To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: screen scraping from scales We are in need of an application solution to "scrape" a weight from an electronic scale (Toledo) that is connected to a PC that is operating an interactive program on the 400 through Client Access. The user will enter some carton information that is headed for an interface file that will produce records within UPS's Automated Shipment System. The carton needs to be weighed and the results need to be "materialized" into a pre-defined row/column co-ordinate within the 400 application so our users do not have to key the data. UPS has their own PC system and their own solution but theirs is a proprietary system on a window platform that we are replacing...we would like an answer for our 400 application. Any ideas?
