I had a similar situation a few years ago. However, I changed the initial program. It creates a message queue in the QRPLOBJ library named BRKMxxxxxx, where xxxxxx is the job number (i.e. BRKM407689), and puts it n break mode with a break handling program. If I want that job to execute a command I send a message to its message queue. I also have a job that runs periodically which executes the command DLTMSGQ QRPLOBJ/BRKM*. Only the message queues that are not allocated to a job are deleted. At any rate, the QRPLOBJ library gets cleared when I IPL. I'm considering using a break message handling program, which can be set up via the CHGMSGQ command, and then have a scheduled job send a message to the workstations at the proper times. First off, are there any other better methods for such a task? The more difficult problem with this method is that the CHGMSGQ command needs to be run every time a user logs into the workstation. At this site, the initial program is sacred for political reasons and must not be modified. How might I have a new job run a command without changing the initial program?
