in a .NET presentation I saw at the beginning of this year the instructor
said MONO ran non GUI .NET applications on Linux without any problems.  He
alluded to problems with the GDI part of .NET in MONO.   My guess would be
that a .NET application on a handheld device ( probably just doing console
output ) would run well.
