I do, for one. I create command front-ends for virtually everything which may get called from a menu or command line or SBMJOB. Among other things, it solves problems with character parameter lengths over 32 bytes, decimal alignment of numeric parameters, etc. I think of them kinda like a subprocedure prototype. They provide the variable types and sizes expected, allowing the system to make any conversions needed. I keep copy books with source members with all the common keywords I use (one keyword per source member). I can whip together a command source very quickly simply by piecing together existing keyword templates.
