Heh! Not too much punishment!

I think you got it - the summary function made it happen. I'm not sure why - maybe to make it stand out. Maybe try ANZQRY against the QRYDFN and see whether any message refers to the TOTAL summary function. This function will not be a part of the QMQRY, rather, a part of the QMFORM. Maybe! ;-)
