I would think this would be coming to DB2 on the iSeries someday soon.

With V5R3 you can create partitioned tables.  The original intention is for
tables which are too big for one member.  And the way that DB2 on the
iSeries does this is by using multiple member files.  With the iSeries
implementation of DB2 partition tables one of the columns determines which
member to use.  Thus each member still has this column  defined in it
also.  Some member purists may be agitated by the disk this might waste.
But, basically, since they are going to support inserts/updates/deletes on
this, maybe it won't be long before it's supported on Joins.

Another reason to stay current with some of the buzz talk.  I hear tell of
something called DB2 Stinger.  Supposed to provide all sorts of cool
functionality.  The one that interests me most is the High
Availability.  They either have it working, or are getting it to work on
other platforms.  I emailed the IBM author asking about the iSeries.  I
only get the official party line.  "It's on platform this, this and
this".
