I would think this would be coming to DB2 on the iSeries someday soon. With V5R3 you can create partitioned tables. The original intention is for tables which are too big for one member. And the way that DB2 on the iSeries does this is by using multiple member files. With the iSeries implementation of DB2 partition tables one of the columns determines which member to use. Thus each member still has this column defined in it also. Some member purists may be agitated by the disk this might waste. But, basically, since they are going to support inserts/updates/deletes on this, maybe it won't be long before it's supported on Joins. Another reason to stay current with some of the buzz talk. I hear tell of something called DB2 Stinger. Supposed to provide all sorts of cool functionality. The one that interests me most is the High Availability. They either have it working, or are getting it to work on other platforms. I emailed the IBM author asking about the iSeries. I only get the official party line. "It's on platform this, this and this". Rob Berendt -- Group Dekko Services, LLC Dept 01.073 PO Box 2000 Dock 108 6928N 400E Kendallville, IN 46755 http://www.dekko.com
