Corbet, What do you mean by 'your own cum'?

took 12.5 hours to do, I was expecting 8, and I wasted hardly any time with
the machine waiting for a CD.

You will have to follow the instructions...they are different than past
release installs, and you'll have to provide your own CUM.

And, as always, definitely have a good backup handy.

Just a repeat of what others have said.....good luck.

Either have the cursor sit in a field that is non-display, or change the
cursor to not blink.

I have a display file screen that presents information only. It says to
press any key to continue. This works fine except the cursor sits on the
screen and blinks. The cursor has no purpose there and looks goofy.

Is there a way to make the cursor disappear while this screen is
displayed?

Greg,

AFAIK there is no way to eliminate the cursor (at least not when you
have an INVITE). We used it to our advantage by placing an input
capable field where we wanted the cursor to blink. This can highlight
the instructions (press any key to continue).

Went very well - I was even doing it with the early ship (beta version). Do
what Al says, which is basically, read the install manual, read it again,
choose your install method, do a dry walk-through, then do the real
install, and do every step. Check them off as you go. It's fussy but will
almost guarantee a pain-free install.

This includes clean up -- permanent applies of PTFs, etc.

If you are a little brave, you could use virtual CD - image catalogs. It
saves plugging in CDs during the install. But if you have never used them,
this may not be the time to learn. We are a development house and I could
afford to - production shops have to be more careful, not dareful (as I
first typed it).

And you have a full system backup, right? If not, do it.

IIRC, the 198 is perforation to perforation. Total width of greenbar was
14, so the 13.2 makes sense. Tractor feed takes up the rest.

In the memo to users for V5R3, it states that iSeries Access for Windows
(IAW) can no longer be _installed_ on W95, W98, or WinME machines.

It doesn't say, in this document, whether it can still be _used_ or
_upgraded_ to the latest IAW version.

We still have 3 W98 machines in use. If IAW is _already_ installed on those
machines, does it still work?

Thanks.

13.2 at 10/inch is 132 print positions. The old tab card equipment printers
had 132 printer bars, hence the paper was 13.2 inches wide, plas the edges
for the pinholes.

Would anybody happen to know who at IBM is handling system passwords these
days? I think our D02 may be about to go into system password bypass again
(in spite of being kept plugged in at all times, and in spite of being
exercised weekly when not in use).

We were missing LPPs on the media. Make sure you do the step where you
verify the contents of the media.

Order a cume in advance because IBM doesn't include one.

YJARPF FROMFILE(YEXPT/XYZ20)
(It will zip the file XYZ20 and places zip version into IFS JAR DIRECTORY)
This command YJARPF is not zipping the file when the job is submitted to
QBATCH3. This works interactively and also in QBATCH. I've no idea why it
doesn't work in QBATCH3.
Anyone have idea? Jobs submitted work differently in QBATCH &QBATCH3?

Thanks for your suggestions

If your client is an Express client on Win98 it should work (although
not supported). I have done several installs of V5R2 this year
to shops with some Win98, and left the client it had. I did try & get
newer service packs on them, and it was "bumpy", mostly with
lack of memory issues, and various Win98 editions, and some
Win98 set to run in a Win95-like mode.
These same pc's had issues with almost every other software it ran,
so management did schedule them to replace later.
