No James, I was talking about data entry also. I am not saying that SQL is the mantra to be using. I am saying that it shouldn't be ruled 'out-of-hand'. And that it's a great exercise of the mind to see if it fits, or might even be a better fit. It's that Joe is talking about data entry and it seems that Rob is leaning towards data presentation? Rob, in all honesty I can say that rarely does a data entry program not USE some data element from the retrieved record in it's decision making before a write is ever performed. So for data entry purposes, single record fetch is a must. J.
