One of two fixes is to make sure that you don't do any DB2 updates, prior 
to any ifs updates, as Wayne suggests.
The other is to use namefmt and just be explicit as to whether or not you 
plan on using DB2 or IFS.

Bruce, I've noticed this quirk myself and I think it has to do with 
specifying the leading forward slash.  If you omit it on the first time 
you try the cd command, it assumes you want to change to a library 
instead of a directory in the IFS.  The only way to reset it is to quit 
ftp and start over, being careful to specify the leading slash, i.e., cd 
/hbos the first time.
