The app picked up the IP address of the session, the logged on user, and 
held their password (which could be different to the AS/400 one, set in CA 
remote command properties) on an AS/400 file (encrypted).

This was on Win 98, though I still use it on my Linux box. We hit problems 
with XP, but then switched to emailing the pdf instead, as it saved having 
to configure remote command for every user.

For XP we avoided it - I'm sure it is possible to get it working, but I 
don't think it's easy.
