Cool, glad this helps. I also just remembered that there is still the AS/400 Online Library, which has stuff back to V4R1 for sure. Start at <http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/online/homeeng1.htm>. From there, the link to the V4R1 library is <http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/online/v4r1eng.htm>. And you can try substituting, say, 'v3r7' for the 'v4r1' - it worked for me, although a lot of the material is no longer available. That would then be <http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/online/v3r7eng.htm>.

In the earlier libraries, I think you'll need to go to the individual manuals, if they are accessible, and check the "What's New" section of each. A history channel special is upcoming, right?

Good luck
Vern

Thanks Vern!

I still need to look it over in more detail but this tells me part of what
I was looking for. I was also interested in V3Rx and V4R1-4 but from this
I can at least infer that if it's not new in V4R5 or greater it must have
been around before that. I suppose that if IBM intends not to support
older releases then they have not obligation to provide documentation on
them.

It was brought to my attention that my pointers to the information could have been more helpful - so let me give some actual links:

The InfoCenter entry point is at <www.iseries.ibm.com/infocenter> and from
there you select a region (or continent), then a release of the OS. Once
you get to the main page for a release, look for the 3 items, "Memo to
Users", "What's New", and "Late-breaking news". I can't give you the links
for them all - they differ by release.
