I'm not clear on what you actually need. Is this a case where the customer has 
only V4R5 Client Access CDs? or is this a case where there's a question whether 
or not a V4R4 system can be accessed with current versions of iSeries Access 
and WinXP?

Just to get the comment into the thread, V5R2 iSeries Access connects with V4R4 
fine at least via TCP/IP in case that's useful info for you.

Actually, it might also be worthwhile to find out what the licensing rules 
really are for keeping client-side code current while allowing server-side to 
go off support. There are numerous sites that have an older AS/400 that's 
back-level while other AS/400s at the same site are current. Should I have to 
use an old Client Access version when I connect to that single system? 
Obviously, obtaining a legal copy of the client-side in the first place is the 
first problem.
