Not only that, but you can bill it to work and be ready for that overseas
vacation. :-)

'cause I think there is a charge to get one. I forget, (mine, never used,
and probably expired) but it did have a charge. I even paid the county
clerk a rush fee. So get it now.

Just get a passport. They are cheap and cover it all. Then there is no
worry
about loosing your Birth Certificate or damaging it...

The last time I was in canada was at the border crossing bridge in
buffalo/fort erie in a car.

I only needed to show my drivers license, open the trunk of my car, and
tell them what I was doing in Canada (going to the ballet, of course ;)

But that was 10 years ago, and wasn't on a plane. Airport customs have
probably always been more strict than border crossings, and doubly so
after
9/11

I just picked up a copy of my birth certificate from the local board of
health.

OK,

just called the Canadian embassy downtown.

You DO need proof of citizenship. Specifically Driver's Licenses are not
proof. You WILL need a birth certificate or a Passport! Voter Reg cards
will not do it! If you bring a birth cert, you will need a valid (presume
government issued) PHOTO ID....so bring the drivers license and birth cert
if you don't have a passport....

iSeries Nation "Passports" are not going to get you into Canada...they
only work in Jersey....:)

(I usually figured that my being here was sufficient certification that I
was born...:)
