8 character user IDs were the max length (ie lowest common denominator) for
PROFS mail systems.

There is Userprofile and there is userID. They are not the same entity, but
they can be related to eachother though. Use the ADDDIRE.

I never grasped why one is 10 and another is 8. Maybe the s/38 was invented
with 10 char *NAME standard before they came across the idea of connecting
it to sby else using SNA arkitecture (invented long before s/38)
