You should be able to use MochaSoft Tn5250 from the Blackberry to get to the iSeries once you get thru the network. The boss wants to be able to check his e-mail from it. You can do e-mail and you can navigate to a web page. If can set up the AS/400 with one of the browser-based interfaces (like HATS) to the AS/400, you should be able to log on. I'd be willing to bet that the Blackberry has SSL support built in, but you'd need to get a certificate for the AS/400 to establish a secure connection. Verisign sells them for about $900 a year.
