You need to attach an "Linux Appliance" (IBM's term) or a IBM Proprietary PC running Linux (Al's term) to configure LPAR or CUoD, which is called the HMC (Hardware Machine Console). The Linux PC is SO closed that to do any work not defined in the HMC, you must get a user profile and password from IBM, and the password is good by serial number for only one date.
