In a nutshell, we created a user profile that exists in both environments
(Windows Network Domain) and the iSeries. Netlogon works by querying the
windows domain for user authentication. Using this common profile allows us
to control access to these Windows shares through standard Windows Network
Authentication. Within the tool, we get/set profile handle, so the job
appears to be running as our common user. From here, it just uses the stmf
commands to move files back and forth through QNTC.

The tool can work in both directions, can locate files by wildcard,
optionally allows plugins to validate data during import to eliminate bad
data from being processed, and optionally allows the original data to be
renamed, moved, or deleted.

It has been very dependable so far, though we had some bizarre problems on
V4R4 involving share locks not being released. Still, it was well worth the
effort.

This is exactly what I need. Could you elaborate on the profile issue? Our
AS400 only has upper case userid/pw and the Win/2K has mixed. Is that why
we can't see the shares?

Also, what does your in-house tool do. Can you give a rough outline?
