One of the differences between you calling the startup program and just starting the subsystem is what profile is used. If you start the controlling subsystem the job is run by QPGMR(as defined in QSTRUPJD) otherwise it runs with your authority and library list. ---------------------------- Bryan Dietz ============================== No problem, just a question about how the system works... There's a system value for the controlling system (usually QSYS/QBASE or QSYS/QCTL), and a system value for the startup program. When you go into restricted state, and want to go back to normal operations, is it preferable to start the controlling subsystem or call the startup program? I am under the impression that starting the controlling subsystem and running the startup program are equivalent. Is this true? Thanks, Loyd
