One method is EDTOBJAUT.  And if you hit F11 twice it sticks out.  You 
could have one group profile that has delete checked, and one that 
doesn't.

Another method is to allow only access from a program.  In other words, 
allow these users no access to the file.  They have to be running a 
program that adopts authority.  Then this adopted program checks, somehow, 
as to what this particular user is allowed to do.

Or you could put a trigger on the file.  If user is not authorized to do 
certain things then fail the operation.

Security Question






What would be the quickest and maximum security to permit some users
view and change data in a file, but only a select few delete from the
file?  This must also be a simple to maintain solution.

I had one of our developers asking the question this morning.

My "gut" feeling is to use a group profile approach.  However, I am
wondering if there are other good suggestions out there.
