Philipp,

As long as there's no WSU code running in the M36 then converting to S36EE
should be relatively painless - as long as you have current source.

Although a real IBM 5494 can't handle 5294 emulation mode, there are other
alternatives:
        http://www.iocorp.com/io8494g.htm

Or get a little ambitious and just go with a WAN:
        http://www.e-twinaxcontroller.com/

Or I see IBM 5394's as low as $300 (and it's a Canadian site, so only
about $23.75 US ! :-)
        http://www.comsch.com/specials.html
(although the last modified date of July 2, 2002 at the bottom of the page
is suspicious) :-)

Re: Advanced S/36 (436) printer error

Neil,

with the 5494 there is no field 'BB' anymore, I think we have to change
back to 5394 units
at that site, since we want to isntall another two links to other sites.

Time to move away from the 436 to a real 400 with S36EE, are there any
serious caveats ?

I read about V4R5 not supporting Avdanced S/36 data when migrating.
Shall I install V4R4 first, take a tape and restore the Advanced S/36
data to that release,
and then migrat further ?

Philipp
