We have a model 820 with SStar processors in it.

We need to get a new box, but can't wait for the next series, so we will
probably get one with POWER4.

I need to have a machine for testing with the "next release" of OS/400, but
keep the primary workload on the "current release" (for example, at present
time, V5R3 and V5R2 respectively).

Due to the increased horsepower, my primary workload will move to the new
POWER4 box. I would like to continue using the older SStar box for testing
the "next release". My concern is how many more OS/400 releases will be
supported on the 820 SStar? I'd like to get another couple of years/releases
out of it (like maybe V5R3 + 2) but I wonder if that is being too
optimistic.

Anybody know the answer or know where I can find that information?
(educated guesses based on experience definitely welcome)

Thanks,
-Marty
