Hello All,

We're doing an image file conversion for a customer on V5R2 and I am
noticing that the IFS will often times allocate about 30-40% more disk
than it really needs for each file that gets stored. While this works
fine, it's very inefficient.

Here's my question:

1.) Is there a way to improve space allocation in the IFS ? I don't know
of one.

2.) Would this be a case where a user defined file system would be
warranted ?

All input is appreciated.

Regards,
Richard Schoen
