If all you want is an IPL then why power the system off for half an hour? I've heard it mentioned that disks can sometimes have problems on power-up such as refusing to start, etc. If you know that there is going to be a scheduled power outage then that's another matter. Otherwise just schedule a PWRDWNSYS.
