This is like the customer asking for an Excel spreadsheet - they are asking
for a solution, not identifying the problem.

Given that they want to shove MORE onto the green screen panel, means they
want to do more, I expect. So, maybe just design the application so it works
faster... Using an approach of "one panel = one function", you can
efficiently design an application so the data is grouped better, works more
efficiently, etc.. etc.. Take a look at the installshield wizard - it gives
you one panel for every different function, and no one complains about it
being too hard to use..

The "problem" with 24x80 was that the block mode performance of the S/38 and
AS/400 was slow.. Since performance has been improved so much these days, we
have an opportunity to design applications to a more modern standard. That
means designing better screens, with better groups of data, more efficient
workflow, etc.

Sticking to a philosophy of "there is room on the screen, stick a field on
it" will keep us in the green ages.

Subject: 24 x 80 is too small.

Many days I have received application requests for data extendi=g past
80 columns and 20 rows. I heard somewhere that you can co=e a DSPF to 25
x 132 but how would one go about this?

   Thanks.
