The product was $DSORT on IBM s/3 (prior to 1980), then #DSORT on s/34, not a part of CPF for s/38 but for migrating customers available as 's/3 Conversion Reformat Utility', and last FMTDTA on AS/400 and iSeries. The spec's has to my knowledge not changed in all that time. It's long time outdated. Only problem is that it's ligthning fast (from the days when we could do serious data processing on a 300 KHz 8080 8 bit processor and 8 Kb internal storage). There is a frontend SRTFILE that takes the troubles of writing the cryptic spec's - I couldn't find it however on the Internet.
