In that case (which coincides exactly with my own tests), then the PC Telnet client (Note, I tried this with Touchtone's own TN5250e client) is TALKING to the Telnet server on the first machine, but RUNNING the Telnet CLIENT on that machine, which in turn, is talking to the Telnet server on the second machine. And you could have multiple layers of Telnet clients running in jobs that communicate through the Telnet server. If you are using a conventional ASCII Telnet client (such as the one that comes with WinDoze), the Telnet server still doesn't do anything to intercept the "CTRL-A" that serves as an ATTN in that protocol. But then, if you're using THAT to communicate with an AS/400, then either you don't have anything better, or you're a masochist. -- JHHL
