Sorry Vengoal can you please dumb down your answer for me
Are you talking about the SQL Server box or the AS/400.

The AS/400 in question is a very large  iSeries in use by a Telco and is
almost completly locked down
and protected so I figured this was the most acceptable way to extract
data --make up
a outgoing stage table--the norm before was the iSeries would ouput txt
files to a  drop dir so I figured
DTS and ODBC or OLE DB
