Maybe IBM should take a cue from the car industry (New Beetle, new T-Bird,
new Mini Cooper) and start selling a retro iSeries called the System/38i.
It would look like four washing machines welded together, with a built in
tiny green screen console, a keyboard that generates a mechanical "clunk"
when you hit a key, and red plunger to pull in the event of an emergency.
Internally it could be an 825 and a whole bunch of scrap iron.

I know that marketing the iSeries is discouraged, but geezers are strong
market with great buying power.

You may be kidding, Paul,

But back in the mid-90's an old client of mine *seriously* considered
gutting his old S/34 and putting his advanced S/36 inside the chassis. He
was of the opinion that "bigger is better", and he liked the way the S/34
looked better than the new small system.
