Scanning from a PC out on the network is 'workable', but numerous problems 
are overcome by having an iSeries native solution running instead.

What I've been most curious about is the result of running scanning from 
an integrated Windows card. This would be an intermediate level between 
those extremes. Communication should/could then be via the internal 
'virtual LAN'. I haven't seen comments from anyone that indicated that 
configuration. What's the cost nowadays to use such a card?
