Thanks to everyone who replied.  Looks like it's a combination of all of the
answers.  The volume *was* turned off on the dumb terminal -  I didn't know
you could do that.  Guess I've been away from dumb terminals too long.

Searching the archives didn't turn up anything helpful, but I've referred
the client access problem to supportline.  The latest CA service pack hasn't
fixed it.  If I get a PTF number back I'll re-post.

I'm trying to get the screen to beep under certain circumstances, so I've
used the ALARM DDS keyword, but it remains stubbornly silent.  I've also
tried running an old program that uses the 5250 datastream commands to send
a beep, which definitely used to work, but still silence.

I've tried using Client Access and our console which is an old twin-ax
terminal.

We're on a model 800 at V5R2M0.  Any ideas?
