We did just this to reduce the amount of time because we were saving to a 7208 drive. We've upgraded that drive now to where the time savings is nowhere near significant. But, we still do a save to separate save files for each library because it's shown to be very convenient to do a restore - we just restore from the save file instead of unloading and reloading the tape.
